As such Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is given to those students that stay on for further education after compulsory education has finished ie. College or 6th form. The amount recieved by the individual is based on how much their parents earn. To get £30 Parents who earn up to £20,817 per year recieve £30 per week. £20,818 - £25,521 per year recieve £20 a week and £25,522 - £30,810 per year recieve £10 a week but if your parents earn more than £30,810 per year the individual has no entitlement to EMA. This is an unfair system as this money is meant to aid youth in their education when purchasing school equipment and helpin them go on educational school trips. Most children stuggle to find jobs and so have little money to purchase school equipment and are being unfair excluded. It is not the children that recieve the parents extra money and so they in fact do not get any financial aid, whether it be via parents or government.
